2nd Amendment Rights, Montana Style - Friday, May 08, 2009
by: Ben Markeson
I'm normally not a fan of any State, but I say hooray for the State of Montana. Gun rights and free speech rights are the two foundations of a free society, and I am glad to see the Sovereign State of Montana asserting its citizens' guns rights even if it is a symbolic act. This happened three weeks ago but just now appears to be getting national attention. — benny @

Montana: You will take our Montana-made guns when you pry them from our cold dead Montanan fingers.
Montana’s legislature exempted Montana-made guns from federal gun laws, a move which underscores a state’s right to legislate commerce that occurs totally and exclusively within its own borders.
Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer immediately, saying, “It’s a gun bill, but it’s another way of demonstrating the sovereignty of the state of Montana.”
He also said: “I like big guns, I like little guns, I like pistols, I like rifles, and I would like to buy a gun that’s made in Montana.”
The Montana Shooting Sports Association, which drafted the bill, has said it will raise the money to pay for any legal costs, the AP reported.
The story is here.
God bless Montana.

Montana can have God as far as I'm concerned. And just a question here; how can Montana claim to say what the federal government can or cannot do; isn't that the same thing you're complaining about in reverse?
The Commerce Clause is one of the biggest fuck-ups the founders made; that, and the Bill of Rights. Both have been perverted to expand government power over everything in our lives.
Thanks for your comment.
In a Constitutional Republic, which is what the Founding Fathers created and what the Constitution (properly interpreted and applied), the States are supposed to be sovereign over the Federal Government, not the other way around. In a Constitutional Republic system (such as we had until the War Between the States/War for Southern Independence and Abraham Lincoln destroyed it) the Federal (central) Government is supposed to have very limited powers (national defense, policing the borders being two of them) delegated to it by the States through the various provisions of the Constitution.
Unfortunately as wise as many of the Founders were (particularly Washington, Jefferson and Monroe) even they weren't visionary enough to look 200+ years into the future and predict what a oppressive monstrosity the Statists would turn the federal government into.
I second that GOD BLESS Montana.I live in Fl so we are in good shape so far.I encourage people to get their conceals license and join the NRA. FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS TOO. WHEN THEY OUTLAW GUNS I'LL BECOME AN OUTLAW. GUN CONTROL SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR SIMPLE MINDS.These are on my truck along with these. NEVER HESITATE OR APOLOGIZE FOR KILLING THE ENEMY. TO DISARM THE PEOPLE IS EASIEST AND MOST EFFECIENT WAY TO ENSLAVE THEM.
I think people are waking up it getting harder and harder to find ammo.
