The typical crossover is designed for light off-road drive being a combination of a passenger car chassis, high seats to have a panoramic view and a large load space. Some of the models have all-wheel drive capability and some can seat up to eight passengers.
A crossover combines the best features of the two other types of vehicles: a SUV (sport utility vehicle) and a passenger vehicle like a hatchback or a station wagon.
The following features typical of a passenger vehicle can be found in crossovers depending on the model:
•	A unibody construction based on a car platform
•	A box shape outline
•	A rear door
•	Some interior design features like folded rear seats
•	Independent rear suspension
•	Fuel economy
The SUV-like features that can be found in crossover models:
•	Some interior design features like high seating position
•	High ground-clearance
•	Four-wheel-drive feature
The crossovers can by divided into four main types in accordance with the price level and the purpose preferred:
	Luxury CUV
	Sporty CUV
	Hybrid CUV
	Entry-level CUV
The most expensive are luxury and sporty CUVs. Due to its friendly price and efficient fuel economy feature the hybrid CUV is considered to be the best family crossover. The Entry-level CUV is of the most favorable price.
